Anton Ponomarenko is an Emerging Scholar Fellow at the Stimson Center’s 38 North and a Research Fellow at the U.S. Army T2COM G2, where his research focuses on North Korea’s military and technological cooperation with U.S. adversaries. He is also a Nonresident Fellow at the European Centre for North Korean Studies (ECNK) and a Kim Koo Fellow at The Korea Society. Anton’s main research fields include China-Russia-North Korea cooperation spanning military and dual-use technology transfers, civil-industrial-military nexus in UAVs, and the effects of this cooperation on the Northeast Asian security environment. Anton’s analysis appeared in War on the Rocks, 38 North (Stimson Center), The Diplomat, Lowy Institute and Asia Times, and has been cited by RUSI, Foreign Policy, ASPI, and NATO-affiliated defense research institutions including HCSS and FRS among others. He holds an MA in Regional Studies East Asia from Columbia University and a BA in Economics from Fudan University, and is fluent in Russian and Ukrainian, and proficient in Mandarin Chinese.
