About the Speaker

Kelly Magsamen – Former Chief of Staff to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin (2021–2024) and Senior Advisor at The Asia Group (TAG). During her tenure at the Department of Defense, she served as the Secretary’s principal strategic advisor and helped advance key initiatives including the National Defense Strategy, the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, and the institutionalization of AUKUS. She previously served as Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asia-Pacific Security Affairs and held senior roles on the National Security Council staff at the White House.

David R. Stilwell – Former Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs (2019–2021). A retired U.S. Air Force Brigadier General, he served for 35 years in the Air Force, including as Asia advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. His career included multiple tours in Japan and Korea, as well as service as Defense Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing.
