The Rt Hon Sir John Key was the 38th Prime Minister of New Zealand, having served from November 2008 until December 2016. He first entered Parliament in 2002 representing the Auckland electorate of Helensville. In 2006, he was elected leader of the National Party. Prior to his political career, former Prime Minister Key had a long career in investment banking. He worked in New Zealand for 10 years, prior to working in Singapore, London, and Sydney for U.S. investment banking firm Merrill Lynch.
