The Pacific Forum, along with four Washington DC-based institutions — The Center for Naval Analyses(CNA), The Institute for Defense Analyses, INSS at National Defense University, and the Center for a New American Security — will produce a written report on “United States Security Strategy for the East Asia and Pacific Region for a New Century and a New Administration.” This effort is being co-chaired by James Kelly, former Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and Pacific Affairs and Kurt Campbell, the former Deputy Assistant Secretary for Defense for East Asia and the Pacific. The second meeting in this effort will be held May 21-22, (with an opening dinner May 20) in Honolulu, and will focus on U.S. alliances in Asia.
