Kusama Tsuyoshi

Mr. TSUYOSHI Kusama is a member of the House of Representatives in Japan and member of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party.

 

In the House he serves on the Committee on National Security, the Committee on Health, Labor and Welfare, and the special committee on Regional Revitalization, Policies on Children, and Digital Society Promotion. Within the LDP he has served as Director-General for the Special Committee for the Promotion of the 2027 Yokohama International Horticultural Exposition, Director-General for the Research Commission on International Cooperation / TICAD Project Team, Director-General of the Subcommittee on Sports Business, as well as Deputy Director-General, for the Parliamentary League for the Development of Next-Generation Defense Industries and Parliamentary League for the Promotion of a Hydrogen Society.

 

Rep. Tsuyoshi was born in 1982 in Yokohama, JAPAN, and has served on the Faculty of Law (public law) at Aoyama Gakuin University. He earned his Master of Public Management at the Okuma School of Public Management (now Graduate School of Public Management) at Waseda University. After serving as the first secretary of House of Councilors’ member Shinobu Kandori, he was elected to the Yokohama City Council in 2011 (at age 29, the youngest at the time), serving three terms for over 12 years. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in the October 2024 general election (Kanagawa’s 19th District).

 

He is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) at the University of Tokyo.
