Peter Olive joins Pacific Forum as a Senior Adjunct Fellow. A former British Royal Navy officer and UK defence leader, his career at sea included missions around the world before specialising in operational command and planning.
Peter’s experience includes with NATO as well as other alliances and coalitions in the Euro-Atlantic, Africa and the Middle East. A UK defence specialist on the Indo-Pacific for over a decade, he has advised on geostrategy and led several operations including under the U.S.’ Indo-Pacific Command.
Peter also led the UK’s Global Strategic Trends programme, advising the recently announced Strategic Defence Review.
He is a Senior Advisor at Herminius, serves on the Council of the Nautical Institute and has published articles with think tanks and in the media.
Peter has a Masters from Cambridge University, is an alumni of the Higher Command and Staff Course and the Royal College of Defence Studies.
