Thomas Wilkins

Associate Professor of International Security at the University of Sydney and Senior Fellow with the Australian Strategic Policy Institute

Dr Thomas Wilkins is a non-resident Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Pacific Forum. He is also an Associate Professor of International Security at the University of Sydney and Senior Fellow with the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI). He holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Birmingham and specializes in Indo-Pacific security affairs, especially Australian and Japanese foreign and security policies, alliances and alignments, and regional architecture. Prior to joining Pacific Forum, he was a Senior Research Fellow at the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA). His research has been published widely in journals such as Asia PolicySecurity Challenges, and Asian Security, and his latest monograph Security in Asia-Pacific: The Dynamics of Alignment, is published with Lynne Rienner Press (2019).
