Beumsuk Kim (ROK)

Beumsuk Kim (ROK) is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Political Economy at King’s College London, exploring International Relations, Foreign Policy Analysis, and Indo-Pacific Security Studies. His doctoral research focuses on the securitization theory and Asia-Pacific foreign policy analysis centered on critical infrastructure and defense technologies such as THAAD and Huawei’s 5G networks. Prior to joining Pacific Forum, Beumsuk worked as a research assistant at various places, including the Foreign Affairs and National Security Team of the National Assembly Research Service in the ROK, the AI and Energy in Gulf project at the University of Warwick, and the BK21+ at the Yonsei University. He has experience as a full-time lecturer and a 1st lieutenant in the Department of International Relations at the Korea Army Academy at Yeongcheon for three years. Beumsuk will conduct research on South Korea’s foreign policy decision-making process in the context of Sino-American relations.
