Matthew Suh is a recent graduate from Princeton University with a B.A. in the School of Public and International Affairs and a minor in Asian American Studies. He will be a Master of Public Policy candidate at UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs in the fall of 2025 with a concentration in Global Public Affairs. His research interests are focused on diplomacy and shifting powers in the Indo-Pacific. Specifically, he is interested in sovereignty disputes, shifting alliances, strategic competition, as well as the growing influence of private companies that have affected international norms and state behavior. In his final year at Princeton, his research and previous work culminated in his Senior Thesis, which explores how airspace shutdowns and geopolitical conflicts, including the Russia-Ukraine War and the Israel-Iran proxy conflict, have affected the airline industry, civilian safety, and global competition. Prior to Pacific Forum, he interned at United Airlines within its Global Network Planning department and previously interned at Pacific Forum as a development intern in 2023.
