On April 16-17, 2009, the Pacific Forum cohosted, with the Ocean Policy Research Foundation and the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, the third annual Sea Power Dialogue. At those meetings, experts from the United States and Japan held intense discussions that focused on the importance of the oceans as well as the roles that the U.S and Japan could play alone and as allies to secure their respective national interests in the ocean domain.
