On July 3-4, 2010, members of the Pacific Forum Young Leaders program attended the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP) Study Group on Countering the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction in the Asia Pacific. In speaking with a number of specialists, we found that a complete understanding of nuclear security issues facing the Asia-Pacific region, required knowledge of science. Young Leaders thus decided to develop a practical resource to bridge the gap between security policy practitioners and the oftentimes technical and scientific terminology of nuclear weapons and nonproliferation.
