Fikry A. Rahman is the Head of Foreign Affairs at Bait Al Amanah, a political and development research institute based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His research interests are Southeast Asian regionalism, maritime security and governance, small-state strategy, Malaysian domestic politics and foreign policy, and the politics and geopolitics of digital connectivity cooperation. Among the research projects that he involved including Princeton University’s Chinese Belt and Road Initiative in Southeast Asia, the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO)’s Southeast Asian countries’ cooperation with Chinese digital connectivity, Australian-based Blue Security Program’s maritime governance.
