The Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP)

Founded in 1993, the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP) is a regional, non-governmental process dedicated to confidence building and security cooperation through dialogue, consultation, and research. Its member committees span nearly every country in the region.

Pacific Forum serves as the Secretariat for the US CSCAP Member Committee, supporting collaborative work on:

  • Nonproliferation and nuclear security, aligned with the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)
  • Cybersecurity and information and communication technologies (ICTs)
  • Prevention of illicit trafficking in WMD-related materials
  • Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1540
  • Confidence building and preventive diplomacy

Through collaboration with CSCAP-affiliated institutes, Pacific Forum helps shape the frameworks guiding multilateral security cooperation in the region.
